How to Make Your Bum Look Better in Jeans

A perky and perfectly round derriere.  Sound like something you would like to see in your jeans?  Yes?  We thought so. The size and pocket placement is the KEY to a great looking bum.  We’ll tell you what we mean below.

Pockets placed...

Towards the outside: makes you look hippy and bum wider,

Too low: makes your bum look saggy (or could be referred to as the “Grandma bum.”)

Pocket size is…

Too big: makes your bum look large and in charge. (Those pockets are not covering up anything.)

Too small: also makes your bum look large (tiny pockets do not equal tiny looking cheeks.)

**Our Secret Tip**

Make sure your pockets are medium in size and placed in the dead center of your bum cheeks.  If you still aren’t sure how your behind looks, pull a Kim Kardashian and take a picture!

Could Your Clothes Be Sending the Wrong Message?

First impressions are key to lasting impressions.  Have you ever met someone for the first time and they end up being completing different than what you thought?  Initially you thought John was a landscaper since he was dressed in a dirty t-shirt and ripped jeans, but come to find out he was actually a CEO of a very successful advertising firm and just completed working in the yard.  For better or worse, we live in a very visual world.  So we use what we see in front of us to make snap judgements.  Type, color, and the way you wear your clothing can all have an effect on the way people perceive you.  Could your clothes be sending the wrong message?  See some common “clothing messages” below:

1.  High necklines & turtlenecks – covering up your neck and decolletage makes you look closed off.  Try showing a little skin to appear more inviting.

2.  All black – wearing all black from head-to-toe may look chic, but you can sometimes appear a little harsh and unfriendly.  Try wearing a pop of color with those black pants even if it’s in the shoes or belt.

3.  Ruffles – thought of as more girly and young. Ruffles make you appear sweeter.  There’s nothing wrong with looking a little sweet if you are!

4.  Crisp button ups (for women) – can make you seem a bit rigid and stiff.  Try swapping it out for a blouse instead.

How to Make Your Legs Look Longer

It’s all too common now that women are wearing up to 6 inch stilettos to lengthen their legs and sometimes towering over the men.   However, those high heels can cause excruciating foot and back pain.  We’re here to tell you that you don’t need to go to through those extreme measures to get those longer looking stems that you’ve been wanting. We suggest trying our 3 tips below.

longer legs

(left to right: JBrand, $185,; Cole Haan, $149.95,; Halogen, $39.90,

1.  Flare or trouser leg pants – Tapered or skinny jeans stop towards your ankle which becomes a main focal point of your legs causing them to appear shorter.  In contrast, flare or trouser leg jeans are wider at the bottom and almost graze the floor.  This not only makes your body appear more proportionate, but they also cover a few more inches of your leg – allowing for a lengthier look.

2.  Nude shoes –  Colorful or dark shoes draw more attention to your feet, which cuts off your legs towards your ankles.  Nude shoes blend into your skin, which draws less attention downward, making your legs look like they go on for days.  (Speaking of shoes, stay away from ankle straps.  They cut you off as well).

3.  Exposed legs - Possibly the easiest way is to show a little skin.  Wear a skirt, dress, or shorts that come at least a little above your knee.  And if your legs are still a bit pasty, smooth a little self tanner on like Jergen’s self tanner for glowing leaner and longer looking legs.

Handbag Essentials

Has your handbag ever been compared to Mary Poppins travel bag?  Well maybe you can’t fit a whole lamp inside, but the amount of items you carry around is pretty darn close.  What once used to be lipgloss, breath mints, wallet, phone, and keys is now three lip glosses, two lipsticks, one lip liner, two eye liners, powder, a compact, nail polish, two packs of gum, two breath mint containers, a handful of hair ties, sunglasses, a pair of comfy shoes, a bottle of water, extra jewelry, wallet, phone, keys and the list goes on and on.  Dipping your hands inside your purse to find something can almost seem unbearable.  It sounds like it’s about time to pair down and get back to the basics.  Besides your wallet, keys, and phone, we’ve created a list of our top 7 essentials to keep in your bag.  Not only will they make your life simpler, but a whole lot lighter.

1.  Lip gloss or lipstick – only one or two shades

2.  Breath mints – you never know who you’re going to come in contact with

3.  Shout wipes – in case you have a spill

4.  Travel size perfume – one of those freebie mini tubes will do the trick

5.  Nail file - no need for jagged edges

6.  Compact – keep the skin looking fresh

7.  Comb – untangle those knots and ratty hair
